D for Dinosaurs

I didn’t get a chance to write yesterday because the boys came down with a terrible virus and the last 24 hours have been filled with fevers, crying and runny noses.

This week we have been working on the Letter D.  We have memorized Philippians 2:14, “Do everything without complaining or arguing”.  With all the grumpiness that comes from being sick, we have been able to practice it a couple times a day!

And being typical 3 year old boys much of our focus this week has been dump trucks and dinosaurs.  Since we have been obsessed with construction vehicles for such a long time, I decided to go the dinosaur route 🙂

We made the dinosaur craft from Totally Tots.  I love their site and their alphabet crafts are precious!!

Yesterday morning, before the coughing and crying began, I pulled out a bag of plastic dinosaurs I bought from Walmart and explained that today we were going to be scientists and learn everything we could about them.

We learned about fossils and made them using play dough.  I gave the boys coloring pages with different dinosaurs on them and we learned how to identify our little plastic dinosaurs from their pictures.  We also took turns hiding them in the living room and making the others find them.  No real scientific reason, we just love hide-and-seek at our house 🙂

(Hmmm….as I’m looking over this post, I’m noticing that I have cut off heads in each of the pictures that I took.  Maybe I should add, “learn to take better pictures” to my New Things list.)
